jj photograph ntombie and nthabz : we think its an interesting image because of the story behind it and how joshua connected with the child through his camera which was amazing because he was able to show the emotions and the personality of the child.
this photo it shows that if u're an photographer you must not go to any place without your camera ass you see in that pic thy was going to build creche so the photographer got a chance to capture that pic.& it is a good story telling image
The image is realy showing the realness of the child as you can see the innocence and the freedom to be a child. The freedom to be yourself and the spacle in the eye gives joy to other people.
the photo shows the innocence of the child and for us as soon to be photographers we should always have our camera with us because there are always something good to photograph and moments that we want to capture
The image is interesting the contact of the child's eyes and the camera. It shows that the photographer had good connection with the child that he was able to show the child's emotion.big up Josh... Slidile and Sam.
I feel the punctum, for me, is the child's eyes.. but more so, the size of the eyes. The mood of the image has been captured so successfully through the eyes that a story can be told even if the rest of the image was removed and just the eyes remained (crop with your hands) :) Great photograph!
A couple of thoughts have come out of this post... firstly that 'irritating' video has actually sparked some ideas for me to employ as a new teaching tool/conversational device in my lecturing practices... alternate means to sharing and creating communities of practice... so I am thinking of the possibility for students to use the medium of video as way to converse and capture each others thoughts around image analysis_ then by placing these on YouTube, for everyone to access, this becomes a means to learn with/through others... at ones own leisure.
Secondly_ I am happy to hear from the posts that students have recognized the importance of caring cameras with them at all times_ and how some students enjoyed reading and relating to Joshua's blurb... which for me places an emphasis on the role/story of the photographer and how the photographer got to taking the photograph (importance/emphasis on process). I am still curious as to hear about other student PUNCTUMS.
